RS 1 Colin Archer

Oslo, Norway
Notes:

Colin Archer was invited to submit a design for the new Norwegian lifesaving service. His design was selected and built as RS 1, known thereafter as Colin Archer.

Throughout its service, RS 1 Colin Archer saved 67 ships and 23 people and assisted over 1500 vessels.

In 1961, the neglected and forlorn boat was found in private hands in the United States. Shortly afterwards, the vessel was brought back to Norway. RS 1 later received comprehensive overhauls in 1977 and 1993. It is still sailing today.
